How to change the Blogger post URL

( This article below is specially for changing the URL (permalink) of the published post without loosing any rankings.)

In that crackling amount of time you however managed to complete your article and hit it publish.

Then you check your stats and find that there's not enough people visiting your site that you expected from your hard laboured article. 

And Now you decide to get some SEO checkup and Social Media shares to get the heck out of crowd to visit your site.



Then suddenly when you are getting on On-Page SEO roundup you find a big hole in the tank. It's the most important term or say keyword missing out from your URL.

It's maybe because you have reached your deadlines and have put on some extra pressure to get the post completed and get it published form the last week.

The same Permalink mistake can get your way when you get on the midst of top page but struggle to get on top rank #1 and get on a SEO roundup and find this blazing mistake.

It is a common problem when you focus on long tail keywords and as Blogger automatically sets only 35 characters in the URL(permalink) from the title of your post.

And you can't loose some of important keywords in your URL there because a perfect URL is must to get rankings in Search Engine.

Although it is around 0.11 but this can't be neglected in tough competition.

So, now there's not a ready made solution available on Blogger but you get it right in my way.

The method I would use is permanent redirect of that URL to another new desired URL.

This permanent redirect will pass all the link juice (raking power) of your old URL to the custom one that you are going to create now.

So if you have got your page indexed on Google search engine and want to change the URL then don't worry you are not going to loose it just follow these steps and head on.

Just follow these steps to change the Blogger URL ->

1) Log into your Blogger account.

2) Now copy the Blogger URL that you want to change.

Or you can note it anywhere before you change the old URL because we need it to set URL redirect. 

3) Now go to the post whose URL you want to change.

Revert this post to draft because this is the only way to set changes in the URL. 

4) Go to the permalink section.

And Now set it to Custom Permalink and change the URL as you want.

5) Go to the Blogger Dashboard.

 And Now go to Settings > Search Preferences and get under  errors and redirections section.

 

In errors and redirections go to custom redirects and click on Edit and select new redirect.

Now in the from tab add the Old URL that you have copied earlier but don't add the complete URL only add the URL after your blog's name starting with '/'.

And in the to tab add the new URL (here also add only the URL after your Blog's name starting with '/' ).

Now select the Permanent box and click on save and then save changes.
